Polish and Greek Students impressed by multicultural Punjab

Ludhiana, March 7

Impressed with Punjabi Style of living and Punjab hospitality, International Folk Artists and students from POLAND and GREECE declared to work for Punjabi heritage on the Global Platforms and let the other world cultures and communities know about the Multicultural Society of Punjab, peace and prosperity of Punjab and more particularly the great historic traditions of Punjabis.

 

Thirty-eight International delegates students, folk artists, musicians, singers, folk dancers and festival organizers from Wieliszew  (POLAND) and Karditsa (GREECE) were on 10 day Punjab visit, on the invitation of Punjab Cultural Promotion Council’s Director Davinder Singh Chhina, to Participate in the Punjab International Folk Festivals, organized by PCPC and to explore the heritage and folkloric traditions of Punjab.

 

PCPC organized the felicitation ceremony on the occasion of the conclusion of Punjab International Folk Festivals (February 2009 series), last evening here today. Festival Director Mr. Davinder Singh Chhina honoured Promyki folk group, (POLAND) Director Dr Dariusz and Karagouna Karditsa Folk Group (GREECE) Director Madam Chrysis Theologi, with the photos of The Golden Temple, Amritsar. All other delegation members were also felicitated. “ Theses International Delegations participated in Punjab International folk festival at Guru Nanak National College, Nakodar on 17th February afternoon, at Punjab International Folk Music Dance and Martial Arts Festival 2009 at Dumra Auditorium, Ludhiana on Feb 17th evening and Hamdard International Folk Festival 2009 at Kapurthala on 20th Feb. They also visited the Golden Temple, Amritsar to pray for world place and had also explored the Village Folklife of Punjab during their 10 day stay in Punjab” informed Mr. Davinder Singh Chhina the festival Director of Punjab International Folk Festivals.

 

Polish Group’s Translator Mrs. Anna Pruzskowska told that she had become a ‘fan’ of Punjabi heritage forever. Ms. Magda and Ms. Marlena were also impressed with Punjabi hospitality and Colourful Turbans. Greek Group’s Director Mrs. Theologi Chrysis Panagiota extended invitation to Punjab Cultural Promotion Council to attend World Folk Festival at Karditsa (GREECE) this summer.

           

Vice President of Karagouna – Karditsa Group, 67 years old Madam Patramani Pinelopi remarked “ I  had 50 years experience of visiting various world Cultures and communities around the world but I am moved by the affection, warmth and uniqueness of Punjabis more here, than any other part of the world.” Polish students Ms. Ania, Ms. Katarzyna, Mr. Pontek Mateusz, Ms. Dominika were thankful to PCPC trainers Mr. Jaspreet Singh Bablito and Mr. Ropan Singh Bajwa, for imparting Bhangra coaching to them. “Now we have learnt Bhangra and Punjabi Dances” said Mr. Mariusz. Dr. Dariusz Skrzydlewski, who is also the Director of Cultural Centre of Municipality of  Wieliszew (POLAND) termed Punjab as folkloric state and historic land and promised to strengthen Polska-Punjabi friendship through festivals, meetings and educational interactions.

 

Greek boys Vasileios, Marios, Georgios, Dance Teacher Anotoniou and Polish Group Members Mr. Golec and Dr. Dariusz also learnt to tie Turbans, bought turbans from a Turban Shop, Ghumar Mandi, to be taken to their respective countries. “Turban of a Sikh touched my heart, that’s why I decided to sport/tie Turban in Poland” disclosed Mr. Golec.
