PCPC celebrates its 10th birthday !

Global cultures mark the 10 year celebrations of PCPC at Punjab Multicultural Festival

German Folk Artists and students from Jade and Nordenham towns of Germany performed World class entertainment shows and multicultural dances from various regions of the world, during Punjab Multicultural Festival 2009 organised by International Folk ensemble 'Punjab Cultural Promotion Council' at Ramgarhia College Auditorium in the City last evening.
 
Students of Ramgarhia Girls Sr. Secondary School, Ramgarhia Boys School, Ramgarhia Girls College and other schools of the city had a great time watching the colourful dances by the visiting German delegation.  Directed by PCPC Director Mr. Davinder Singh Chhina, this multicultural extravaganza turned out to be a fusion of various world cultures, comprising Sikh Martial Arts – Gatka, Bhangra by PCPC Folk Artists, Folk Singing by internationally acclaimed folk singer Dolly Guleria and Young artiste Chitra Singh, performances by Ramgarhia School students, Irish Dances, Russian Dances, Doll-Dream Dance, Scottish dances, Belly dancing and attractive Latin-American dances.  Bagpipes display by Mr. Falk Paulat and Mr. Friedhelm also impressed the students and the audience.
 
PCPC Director, Mr. Davinder Singh Chhina, while speaking on this occasion narrated the long list of international achievements of the Punjab Cultural Promotion Council in the last 10 years.  “More than Seventy Five World Folk Festival participations, two world folk competitions, more than five hundred international performances in the 18 Countries of the world, representation to hundreds of students and folk artists in various international festivals have made the council, one of the leading international organization in the World Folkloric Circuit”, said Mr. Chhina.
 
Commemorating the ten successful years of inception of PCPC, the Council honoured its International Folk artists who had represented Punjab Folklore in Australia, South Korea, Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Ukraine, Bulgaria, Serbia and other countries in the last few years.  International Punjabi Folk Singer Dolly Guleria praised PCPC led by Chhina for its global contribution in highlighting the heritage of the state through International Festivals and International Educational Cultural Exchange programs.  She along with young artiste Chitra Singh enthralled audience by singing 'Ik Meri Akh Kashni'.  She gifted her Shabad Gurbani CD’s to the German students.
 
Mr. Ranjodh Singh (G.S. Auto), the Chief Organiser of the event and Folk Singer Dolly Guleria honoured Mr. Falk Paulat, manager of Happy German Bagpipers (Jade) and Mrs. Olga Deutsh, director of the Grazia Folk group from Nordenham with Sikh Souvenirs.  Mr. Iqbal Singh (SGGSSC), Mr. Navalprit Singh Rangi (Documentary producer), Biba Asees Chhina (Int’l Child Artiste), Mr. Kuldip Singh (Gatka Instructor), writer Mr. Yadwinder Singh Sidhu (Sangrur) and Ms. Chitra Singh (Folk Singer) were honoured with 'Virasat Awards'.  Dolly Guleria was honoured with 'Life Time Achievement Award' and Mr. Nupinder Singh (Journalist) and Mr. Jaspreet Mohan Singh (Lecturer) were honoured with 'Punjabi Folk Awards' in this multicultural festival.
 
 Mr. Falk Paulat while talking to the media, told that Happy German Bagpipers from Jade and Grazia Dancing Group from Nordenham (Germany) have collaborated to put up multicultural extravaganza in Punjab Multicultural Festival.  “Happy German Bagpipers have been existing for the last 25 years as a novelty band with bagpipe Music, have toured Punjab and Ludhiana City in March 2008 and its repertoire consists of music from Latin America, Scotland, Ireland and expertise in Rock-‘n’-Roll on the pipes and had given concerts in Scotland, India, Holland, Croatia, Hungary, Bulgaria and Poland”, said Mr. Falk Paulat.
 
“The Rhythm of Punjabi Music, the folk instruments of Punjab, Punjabi hospitality and the exotic Bhangra fascinate us too much”, disclosed Mr. Georg, the TV Cameraman accompanying the delegation to tour Punjab.  “We have highlighted the Punjab Folkloric traditions through various German and European TV Channels as we had captured the great folkloric footage during our last trip to Punjab in March 2003”, he breezed.  PCPC also honoured Mr. Ranjodh Singh ‘Shan-e-Shahr’ for his great contribution in organizing hospitality and festivals for International delegations.
 
Those present on this occasion included Karanbir Singh Chhina, Prof. Balvinderpal Singh, Principal Jatinder Kaur, Principal Kamaljit Kaur, Er. D.M. Singh, Dr. Sarabjot Kaur, Mr. Bansi Lal, Mr. Rajpal Singh Raju, Mr. Baldev Salhotra, Mr. Devinder Singh Sodhi, Mr. Sukhdev Singh Rana and others.
