For folk groups, performers, students, dancers from all over the world
wishing to discover the culture of PUNJAB, India

 

PUNJAB INTERNATIONAL FESTIVALS

2009

Punjab Cultural Promotion Council (ISCA member) of India is interested in international exchanges across the globe with interested folk groups, collaborators, festival committees and municipalities worldwide.

PCPC hopes to 'Join hands and collaborate for the culture of peace in the world'.

Two opportunities with PCPC:

·         Collaborate with PCPC (exchanges in folk groups, performances etc.)

·         Be a participant in the Punjab International Festivals in November 2009.

To participate in Punjab International Festivals you may apply with your group or as an individual.  If applying as a group, the group should have a maximum of 15 to 20 members.

Internaional folk groups from Slovakia, Denmark, Bulgaria, Poland, Colombia, Austria,
Mongolia, Russia, Greece, Scotland, Germany and Czech Republic have already
participated in Punjab International Festivals in previous years.

PCPC would organise the visit of the international delegations and ensembles to
The Golden Temple, Amritsar, considered as the place of world harmony.  Sightseeing
tours to historical museums, historical forts, village folk life of the rural Punjab, the
city beautiful - Chandigarh, and other places of human interest would also be organised by PCPC.

EXOTIC PUNJABIS SHINE FASCINATE POLISH AND BALTIC AUDIENCE.

Colourful Turbans, Traditional Punjabi Costumes, Punjabi Dhol and Music enthralled Polish audience, thousands of people of Baltic Nations and international spectators during a four week schedule and world festivals tour by students and folk artists of Punjab Cultural Promotion Council (PCPC).

PCPC folk singer Mr. Nitish bagged 1st position in World Folk Contest at Siauliai, Lithuania, bringing laurels to the state of Punjab by singing traditional Punjabi songs and competing with European and Korean folk singers.

Californian based Sikh leader and prominent transporter, Mr. Surinder Singh Nijjar, was felicitated with Virasat-Award by Punjab Cultural Promotion Council in Ludhiana, Punjab.  Mr. Nijjar has asked the NRI Community to contribute to school education, extend charity works and accelerate culture and sports of Punjab internationally.  Punjab Cultural Promotion Council Director, Mr. Davinder Singh Chhina, announced to appoint Mr. Nijjar as International Coordinator of PCPC - Chapter California. read more

Led by New Zealand senior minister for internal fairs, Dr. Richard worth, a six member Kiwi delegation visited Punjab.  The delegation, in a meeting with PCPC director Mr. Davinder Singh Chhina, signed an MoU with the Punjab Cultural Promotion Council to promote cultural tie-ups.  The Indian Trade Group accompanying the delegation said that it will promote hockey in both countries in collaboration with PCPC. read more
